Everyone can sing!!!
Like our speaking voice, we all have a singing voice within us. Sure, some people can sing more naturally, more effortlessly, and more confidently, but over time anyone - yes anyone! - can improve their singing voice.
If you already sing well, you have been told you have 'a great voice' and this has inspired your confidence to keep singing and keep finding more of your voice.
If you sing quietly just to yourself, you know you have a voice, but you are not ready to release to the world yet. You will when you are ready.
If you 'can't sing' then you have most likely been told your whole life you 'can't sing'. And this has been engrained into that you are not good at it - just like other skills that someone has written you off with, when you were younger.
There are different levels
Of course, there are different levels of singers, just like there are different styles of music. Whether you just want to more confidently sing a few Christmas carols or bang out a karaoke tune for fun, or you want to accompany your instrument, be a singer in a band, or stage, right through to professional recording and performance.
There are different levels - even professional singers can't sing like Adele or Sia, or Micheal Buble or Bono (U2), or whoever you regard as a great singer!
Singing is the most personal of all instruments
Singing is a very personal thing. When you sing you are exposing yourself - there is no where to hide. And like most audiences - whether direct or indirect - we are always judging and critiquing the performance in front of us.
Singing starts with self-belief and confidence
Even a confident singer (or any musician or performer) will suffer from low self-belief at times. So when you start on the journey to sing, or to improve your singing, you are doing it for yourself - first and foremost. Everyone is a critic, so deep with in yourself you need to believe or start to believe.
Get started today. Put of a few of your favourite songs and get singing. Usually the car is the most private place to start unleashing your voice.
And of course, sing for your family or friends when you are ready - but those closest to you are usually your biggest critic too - so tread slowly.
Here at 'Let it Flow', we start with building your self-confidence to help you find your voice. Sure we will cover all the tips, tricks and techniques to help you on your musical journey - but the first step, particularly with singing is - SELF-BELIEF!
