Break it down to accelerate your learning!
This goes for learning anything new really - the more you focus on one piece of the puzzle at a time. the quicker you will learn. There is always a temptation to rush ahead.
With guitar, break it down to your Left hand and Right hand.
Focus on them separately, then together.
Left Hand + Right Hand = Together
Left hand - holding down and moving between the chords
Play a few chords, then move between the chords 10x times without even strumming.
Shake out your hands when it gets tired.
+
Right hand - strumming and bringing to life your song / your sounds
Mute the left strings and just strum simple 1,2,3,4 down-down-down-down
Look down at your right hand, make sure everything is in position.

Together - how they work together!

Everyone tends to focus on the left hand chords - learning the different chord shapes, moving between the chords, and of course. soloing.
BUT...the Left hand chords is more a mechanical / muscle memory thing. So it will happen fairly chord once you train the hand to get in position.
Its the right hand strumming that brings everything to life. so you should spend at least 50% of your practice time just focused on your right hand.
For example, think about this...you could play 1 chord, say an A chord, once you strum that chord, if your right strumming hand is not bringing it to life or doing something special with the timing / strumming / acents, then it's going to sound pretty plain.
Think of your right hand as the band / the drums / the orchestra! It brings everything to life.
So play / practice with a more balanced approach between each hands - you will thank yourself when everything becomes more natural!
