Absolutely! Beginners are our speciality as we have seen over the years that our LET IT FLOW approach realy helps beginners get over the initial hurdle of just starting.

I would recommend a nylon strong acoustic guitar as these strings are the softest on your finger tips when you are just starting out. Plus the neck is a little wider so it can be more forgiving when getting to know the chord positions.

For small hands, or kids, I would recommend getting a half-size or three-quarter size guitar so its easier to play.

Though not critical, these days its good to get a guitar with an in-built Tuner as well as the capability Plug the guitar into an amplifier or PA speakers.

Like other things in life, there are natural singers where singing comes easier and their voice sounds better from the start. I have not met a person yet I cannot help create a voice sounds from - but it will be up to them if they want to keep playing/singing to develop their voice skill.

Songwriting starts with a simple idea or a theme that can be captured in just a short phrase of a few words - this is the starting point.

From the theme you should have an idea of the style or mood of the song; is it a slow deep and meanful or folky song, a simple punchy pop or rock song, or even more or a bluesy.

Have a reference song that is guiding the feel helps to guide the approach.
